King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Dammam (KFSH-D) is a major healthcare project serving families across the Eastern Region. Despite its relatively recent establishment, the hospital has rapidly expanded the scope and quality of its specialist services, supported by highly qualified professionals, advanced techniques and high standards of care.

Specialties and Transplant Services

• Core specialties include oncology, organ transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac services programs and genetic sciences.
• Additional specialties include hematology, rehabilitation, neurological surgery, surgical oncology, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, orthopaedic surgery, urology and other specialist services.
• By the end of 2014, the hospital had successfully performed more than 130 stem cell transplants for adults and children, and was the only Ministry of Health center providing this type of care.
• The hospital operates the Kingdom’s only pancreas transplantation program, alongside kidney and liver transplant services.

Quality, Accreditation and Collaboration

KFSH-D applies international standards to maintain and improve service quality. It earned Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA), becoming the first specialized Ministry of Health hospital to receive this accreditation. Its Laboratory and Hematology Department also received College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation.

The hospital maintains joint collaborative agreements with leading hospitals and health centers in the United States and Canada, Saudi and Arab universities, and European institutes and centers. These partnerships support service development and its ambition to become a leading center of excellence in specialized healthcare.
