The National Museum opened in 1999 inside the King Abdulaziz Historical Center. Its galleries move in order from the formation of the Arabian Peninsula and early kingdoms, through the pre-Islamic era and the Prophet's mission, to the unification of the Kingdom.
The surrounding gardens, the historic Murabba Palace and the King Abdulaziz Foundation library make the area a good half-day stop in central Riyadh.
Visitor tips
- Allow at least two hours to see all galleries.
- Visit on a weekday morning to avoid school groups.
- Walk over to Murabba Palace in the same visit.
