Wadi Hanifa is a natural valley that runs for more than 100 km through the western side of Riyadh. A long rehabilitation project turned large parts of it into parkland with lakes, walking and cycling paths, picnic areas and palm farms.
The valley also links some of the city's heritage: Diriyah sits on its banks, and the green stretches make a calm contrast with the dense city centre.
Visitor tips
- Best in early morning or late afternoon.
- Bring your own food — services are limited in some stretches.
- Avoid the valley floor after heavy rain.
